Terms of Service
Last updated: August 31, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of FlashRoom, a real-time chat application operated by XStreamIO ("FlashRoom," "we," "us"). By creating a room, joining a room, or otherwise using FlashRoom, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use FlashRoom.
1. What FlashRoom is
FlashRoom is an ephemeral, account-free group chat service. Rooms exist only in server memory and are automatically deleted after a fixed period (by default 10 minutes, or longer with a Day Pass or Monthly Pro). FlashRoom does not create user accounts, does not store chat history, and does not maintain a persistent identity for you between sessions.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to use FlashRoom. By using the service, you represent that you meet this requirement. FlashRoom is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly permit use by anyone under 18 — this is a stricter standard than a typical chat app because FlashRoom includes real-money payment features (see Section 5).
3. Anonymous, unverified identities
FlashRoom does not verify who anyone actually is. Every participant is identified only by a randomly generated, temporary handle (e.g. "SpeedyFox-23"). We have no way to confirm a person's real identity, age, location, or intentions, and a handle you interact with in one session has no connection to any handle in another session. Treat everyone you meet in a FlashRoom room as a stranger, because they are one.
4. Paid features
FlashRoom offers optional paid features processed by Stripe:
- Day Pass — a one-time purchase that extends a room's lifetime and unlocks file sharing.
- Monthly Pro — a recurring subscription that grants the same benefits to every room you host, redeemed via a signed token rather than an account login.
All payment card processing is handled entirely by Stripe. FlashRoom never receives or stores your full card number. Purchases are generally final; refund requests for Day Pass or Monthly Pro should be directed to xstreamio001@gmail.com and are considered on a case-by-case basis, but are not guaranteed.
5. Peer-to-peer payments — read this carefully
FlashRoom lets you send money directly to another person in your room. This is real money, sent to an anonymous, unverified stranger, and it is final. FlashRoom cannot reverse a payment, cannot identify who actually received it beyond their temporary room handle, and is not able to mediate disputes between users about a P2P payment.
Technical and legal structure of this feature:
- Payments are processed through Stripe Connect. FlashRoom is not a party to the transaction, does not take custody of funds at any point, and is not a money transmitter or financial institution. Stripe processes the charge and moves funds directly from sender to recipient.
- FlashRoom charges a 5% platform fee on P2P payments, collected automatically by Stripe at the time of the transaction.
- A recipient must complete Stripe's own identity-verification (Connect onboarding) before they can receive payments — this is Stripe's process, governed by Stripe's own terms, not FlashRoom's.
- Payments are limited to $1–$500 and can only be sent to someone currently in the same room as you.
- You are solely responsible for deciding whether to send money to someone you met in a FlashRoom room. We strongly recommend you never send money to someone you do not know and trust outside of FlashRoom, and that you treat any request for payment from a stranger — especially an urgent one — as a likely scam.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to use FlashRoom to: violate any law; defraud, scam, or extort another user, including through the payment feature; harass, threaten, or abuse anyone; share illegal content; or attempt to disrupt, reverse-engineer, or abuse the service's infrastructure. Because FlashRoom does not retain chat logs by design, we have limited ability to investigate after the fact — report abuse to xstreamio001@gmail.com as soon as it happens.
7. No warranty
FlashRoom is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee the service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, and we do not guarantee the identity, conduct, or trustworthiness of any other user.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, XStreamIO and FlashRoom are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any loss of funds sent through the peer-to-peer payment feature, arising from your use of the service.
9. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of FlashRoom after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
10. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
